I’m All Grown-up

I had a deep thought moment this week and it goes like this.

When do we begin to do what we were created to do? Do we need to know without a doubt that we are meant to be a “fill-in-the-blank”, before we start doing that?

Just do it! My father told me this piece of advise.

Do what you love and the money will follow

How many people do you know who went to school to be a whatever and end up working in a field totally unrelated to what they went to school for. I have had this notion ever since I graduated high school. College and the way the system of making money works in our society. Is the paper really worth something or is hard work and experience worth more?

I have known that I want to be in the industry of creative thinking, music, art, and culture. I went to Audio Engineering school in this pursuit and then chickened out to get a more stable income. I tried to get a normal 9 to 5 working in the IT field and saw my life flash before my eyes in a haze of cubicles and fluorescent lights.

So then I moved to San Francisco, with the bug of learning web design. I am happily attending the Academy of Art University today working on a bachelor’s in Fine Arts, specializing in Computer Arts New Media. My first semester opened my eyes to taking my love of music production and visual mediums and bringing them together.

I am not sure if I need the piece of paper but I will continue to go till I find out otherwise. I will say this. I have learned so much since coming to school and that is invaluable. (better be with all the money I have thrown down)

These are my deep thoughts.
