WWDC - Steve Jobs Keynote - macrumors.com

Today is Apple’s WWDC and I can’t wait to hear what is in store for us Apple Fanboys. Will the 3G iPhone blow our minds? Will there even be a 3G iPhone? We shall find out in the next few minutes.

I wonder how much production is down in the bay area because of people being tuned in to the WWDC? They should make a site that could track this. Every time a new announcement from Apple is about to be unveiled everyone in the Bay Area is on pins and needles waiting to hear about the next great thing, it makes front page news here in San Francisco, CA. I don’t think you can find this kind of enthusiasm elsewhere, no only here in the Silicon Valley, the Apple Mecca.

Update:
So the 3G iPhone came and it looks amazing. Now to convince myself that I don’t need it… there is the challenge!

iPhone update 1.1.1

// September 28th, 2007 // No Comments » // Technology, iPhone

I made it out alive!

Today I updated my iPhone to version 1.1.1, which was being talked about a lot around it breaking all hacks that have been out so far. Well it did.

The update is very cleaver. After you download and then install the update the iPhone becomes an iBrick for a moment, claiming it needs to be activated. Cleaver, cleaver Apple. Previous updates did not require this, why so now? Makes perfect sense if I want to make sure that all the un-hacked SIM cards will re-activate while those who used a hack to use other SIM cards from other phone services would not register, now that the phone was wiped clean.

It was fun while it lasted. iFuntastic 3 was a great easy to use hacking tool. I was not impressed with all the hacked software out there. Some of it just wasn’t useful and most crude. Would I hack my phone again, sure.

Now for the new update to 1.1.1. It looks good. The iTunes Mobile store is ridiculous. That is going to be dangerous no doubt. I still don’t see major improvments to the UI or functionality that many have been clamoring for. Like cut and paste, texting multiple people at once.

Come on Apple lets get on that huh…

iPhone Hacking and iFuntastic v3

// August 30th, 2007 // 3 Comments » // Technology, iPhone

So the other day I got sick of looking at my phone and knowing that it had much more potential if I would only unlock it’s inner code. That’s right I began to hack my iPhone. Everything was going smoothly using a help guide I found through TUAW, I was on my way. Then impatience kicked in and I skipped ahead or tried to cancel an installation not sure what went wrong staring at my terminal in disbelief… it was busted. My phone became an iBrick.

To late at night to continue to try and revive my iPhone back to life, I wait until the next day. With a quick call surprisingly to Apple Help support, my iPhone was no longer an iBrick, I was back in business.

Now today I read about iFuntastic v3 being compatible with my PPC, yeah I still use a PowerBook G4 15″… rock on baby. I am wondering if I should try this idiot proof iPhone hacking software. I know enough to hack my phone again using more laborious methods of entering lines of code into a terminal but why. I design more than I code and I like it that way. I don’t want to have to think about all the details, let someone else figure out all the do’s and don’ts then give me a package that just works, ie software.

iFuntasic v3 can be download via iPhonealley. Much appreciated, I hope it works…. yikes.
