Today is Apple’s WWDC and I can’t wait to hear what is in store for us Apple Fanboys. Will the 3G iPhone blow our minds? Will there even be a 3G iPhone? We shall find out in the next few minutes.
I wonder how much production is down in the bay area because of people being tuned in to the WWDC? They should make a site that could track this. Every time a new announcement from Apple is about to be unveiled everyone in the Bay Area is on pins and needles waiting to hear about the next great thing, it makes front page news here in San Francisco, CA. I don’t think you can find this kind of enthusiasm elsewhere, no only here in the Silicon Valley, the Apple Mecca.

So the 3G iPhone came and it looks amazing. Now to convince myself that I don’t need it… there is the challenge!
I had the chance to see The Black Keys of Akron, OH play last night, Apr 2, 2008, at The Warfield.
They were amazing and just as good if not better then their records. I can be a bit of a snob when it comes to blues players but I give guitarist-vocalist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney mad props. In this day and age of here one day gone the next instant online gratification its refreshing to listen to cats like this. Simple to the point good blues and rock-n-roll.
Their new album “Attack & Release” has a much more polished sound then their previous DIY records, but it doesn’t loose its essence. I was wondering how they would handle the more elaborate tunes like “Same Old Thing” or “Remember When (Side A)” live, but they pulled it off beautifully. Bringing in a flute player for “Same Old Think”and Dan playing some Rhodes as well.
You don’t find too many younger people into blues and can actually play them as well. I think that’s what makes this band a special treat for me. Younger sensibilities with the soul of an old Memphis blues veteran.

Here is some footage I shot of the 2008 Pillow Fight in San Francisco. There was easily over 2000+ people most of which had pillows and where using them. A lot of fun to witness.
Most business run a 100% Windows environment. Becoming more and more popular are consultants or off-site employees that really could use almost any flavor of computer they want. The most common second choice (or first choice depending who you talk to) is a Mac running a version of OSX with MS Office for Mac.
With different operating systems keeping document compatibility is key so everyone can share documents back and forth. Using MS Office on a Mac you have a tool to help ensure your documents are compatible.
When saving your document use this method to ensure your word document is compatible with Office for Windows. Note that this will only work for MS Office 97 and up.
The first time you save your document, this also works with any MS Office application, you will see this dialog box. (different versions of Office for Mac may look different).
Click on the Compatibility Report Button, which will automatically run through your document to see if there is any formatting or element of your document which will not translate to other versions of MS Office.
By default the Compatibility Report is set to Word 97 through 2004 (this acts in a similar way for Excel documents). You can change this if you want but I don’t recommend it. This is the most generic setting and safest setting.
Once you have checked your document you will get a pop-up letting you know you can proceed in saving your file or will show you problem issues.
After you have saved your document once you will not see a dialog box when you save your document. You should still check your document though. You can always open the Compatibility Report by clicking on your Toolbox.
This will open up this window. From here you can recheck your document. As well as fix or ignore any issues that may appear.
Bottom line if you stick to basic formatting, meaning no special fonts or elaborate tables your document will most likely always be compatible.

Last night I had the pleasure of seeing Michel Gondry speak at the Apple Store about his new movie Be Kind Rewind as well as film in general and his creative process.
We received a nice surprise when Mos Def showed up walking through the audience to join Michel on stage. Apparently they were staying at the same hotel in San Francisco and didn’t know it. Once Mos found out he was in town he decided to show up and surprise him at the Apple Store event. Very cool.
Overall I left inspired to make a movie using whatever talent and tools I can find to make the story happen throwing my perfectionism aside. I hope to put together a “Sweeded” movie with the friends I went to event with soon.

When NBC started having trouble with Mr. Jobs and iTunes they said (in the voice of Cartman of South Park) “Screw you guys… I’m going home!”
Now we have hulu, which is an NBC joint venture. What is it? A web video service initiating distribution of its movies, TV shows, and mashups, along with many other TV networks as well.
The website is beautiful a lovely hybrid site, super clean and easy to use. I can’t wait to really try it out. You can sign up for the beta here.
