hulu goes beta

When NBC started having trouble with Mr. Jobs and iTunes they said (in the voice of Cartman of South Park) “Screw you guys… I’m going home!”

Now we have hulu, which is an NBC joint venture. What is it? A web video service initiating distribution of its movies, TV shows, and mashups, along with many other TV networks as well.

The website is beautiful a lovely hybrid site, super clean and easy to use. I can’t wait to really try it out. You can sign up for the beta here.

Alan Watts, South Park Style

This morning I came across this posting from Motionographer on a couple motion pieces done on Alan Watts recordings ala South Park. Originally posted on Cold Hard Flash. For one the animation is great, I think Trey and Matt would approve. I am not sure who made these pieces for there is no credit. If anyone knows who did them I would love to know.

I had heard of Allan Watts before in my inquiring into Buddhism but never heard his recordings. I now have to get all his books and find recordings of his speakings. There is also a great article from Reason Magazine about the creators of South Park and their political and religious believes and outlook on life. Great stuff, solid. There is another gem here if you want to see some more animations.

Mr. Wizard

I was taken back memory lane today when I found out that Don Herbert, know to most as “Mr. Wizard”, lost his battle with cancer at age 89 years old yesterday. Bringing science to kids for many years long before I came around he lived for educating young inquiring minds. I remember watching him on Nickelodeon when I was a kid and trying out some of his experiments, ones my Mom would let me try.
